I wrote a song that I will add on this blog post, so you can listen to it if you'd like.
I wrote it about what the real God is, and what the real gods aren't. I wrote it just from my heart, after going to India and seeing with my own eyes, bible stories coming to life. People in temples, covered in ash, and bowing before an idol. It is a strange feeling, actually knowing that these things not only happen now, but were happening years and years ago. Every time I make a decision, or write a song, or really talk to someone about what I believe, I really desire to have scripture to back it up. With this song, I didn't go searching for anything, the song just came out. Now its been a few months, and I opened to these words in Psalms, and realized I had accidentally copied one of Davids psalms from the bible. : ) not really. I just found these verses, that seemed like a version of my lyrics. Here it is.
Psalm chapter 115: verses 1-8
" Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth, Why should the Gentiles say, " So where is their God?" But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes but they do not see; They have ears, but they do not hear; Noses they have, but they do not smell; They have hands, but they do not handle; Feet they have, but they do not walk; Nor do they mutter through their throat. Those who make them are like them; So is everyone who trusts in them."
I read those words, and was just so excited to see that David felt just like me years ago when he wrote those words.
